Decorating the holiday table

As the most beautiful holidays of the year approach, we strive to surprise our loved ones with a
special atmosphere by creating a cosy, festive and even magical mood. Gathered around the
table, we treat ourselves to a nice meal and Christmas drinks while sharing the joys of our life.
That is why decorating the table is one of the most responsible and, of course, the most exciting
undertaking in preparing for the winter holiday that brings everyone together.

This year we are asked to decorate the holiday table in the home of the client where there is a
harmony in the air and a special attention paid to every single detail. When stepping into the
private garden of this home, an amazing greenery, a variety of conifer trees and bushes
intertwined with a graceful bent grass, lead you to the very entrance. Calming nature colours
continue through the doorway and inside.

We have considered the general concept and mood to choose green, black, copper and white to
be the colours for decorating the table this year. These colours not only complement the lovely
interior design but also add meaning to the holiday evening. Green symbolises tranquillity, black
– stability, copper – balance, unity and harmony, whereas white is for marking the beginning of a
new stage of life, for purity and peace.

To lay on the table, we have chosen a non-traditional pair of textiles: pine needle green velvet
runner reminding us of a soft moss, and black linen napkins that match the darker parts of the
interior, the table and the chairs.

Pairing textiles that match in colour but have different textures, helps creating a unique mood
and character for the environment of your home.

To set the table, we used Finish plates by Iittala. The hostess is rather fond of the brand and is
admiring the impeccable quality and the exceptional product design.

The dinnerware collection of Kastehelmi set on the table has been produced since 1964 now, and
stands as a great example of a long-lasting design. The Finnish name – a drop of dew – was
inspired by the beauty of nature, the shining and glowing morning dew that rolls down the leaves
like pearls.

Following this fresh nature colour range, we have further chosen to decorate the table with
various conifer, pieces of moss and branches of eucalyptus.

One of the most striking pieces in the composition are the decorative copper-coloured plates with
the accompanying candles in the little copper-coloured sconces, the delicate orange-colour
berries decorating the moss, and the Christmas ball ornaments placed in each plate. White lily
blossoms and tall white candles serve to complete the composition.

The only thing missing here is an excellent temper and delicious, meaningful conversations.

Have cosy and magical holidays, everyone!

With love,
